current obsessions

Stars, Hayden's Ferry Review #40 (seriously, can I work for a literary magazine that looks this good?), sleeping until noon while drifting in and out of listening to the History Channel and letting it fuck with my dreams, packing up everything, super-lightweight blue stripey pajama pants from Old Navy, the sex life of lobsters, getting used to not having a job, and finding Jake's camera.

*

Today is hazy. Earlier I found the painter sleeping on the floor of P's old room, curled up against stacks of literary anthologies. Landlord was supposed to pick him up, and never did. It should be an interesting week, the painter and I moving around in separate rooms, him painting and me packing. But I am grateful that for whatever reason, he was not here yesterday, and I came home after sausage gravy and fell back asleep until nine.

This should be an interesting week.

  1. I know this is just a little intimate post, but it really makes me want to WRITE something.

Just the thought of the painter, sleeping in Jenny's room. A motivating image, I guess.

And it's good to have that feeling back to WANT to write something. Lately, I just think of titles for poems and tuck them under the folds of my brain. And then forget them.

  2. I know what you mean... it's been weeks without writing here, and I'm almost scared to try. Not quite what I pictured the weeks following the MFA to bring...
