ole! the festivities begin

Tonight is the official going-away party, to be hosted by the lovely work friend Nicole. Actually, I can say that in one week, Nicole will no longer be my work friend, since she will be leaving the marketing firm as well. So is another work friend. Man, look what I started! An exodus.

But anyway. The party is more of a fiesta, really, since the menu includes Nicole's homemade enchiladas and fried plantains. I'm bringing guac, the recipe compliments of the angry vegan, although I must say that I cilantro'd the shit out of the recipe. I used to hate hate hate cilantro, and now I find myself eating fresh sprigs of it straight from the bag. What's next? Mushrooms?

Anyway, there will also be frozen raspberry-tequila pie and some pico, because I can't go five days without eating pico. The entire idea for this fiesta came from my suggestion that we drink margaritas, since I was under the impression that the B and I still had a handle of Cuervo in the cupboard that we'd moved to Madison with. Except that yesterday, when I finally stood on a chair to dig in the back of the liquor cupboard, I found a nearly-empty handle with only an inch of tequila in it.

Looks like instead we'll have to buy a new handle, and since we have no desire to move to our respective apartments with another nearly-empty handle, we're under serious pressure tonight to finish off the bottle. You know what that means, don't you? LOOKS LIKE WE'LL HAVE TO START DRINKING MARGARITAS AT 4:30. BOO HOO. THIS PARTY IS GOING TO SUCK.
