Back from Chicago, where the wind came straight off the lake and the beer flowed freely. It was the sort of vacation that requires a vacation afterward, so I was thankful to have today to sift through e-mails, brew coffee, shop for groceries, and do laundry--all without a commute to the office. Also thankful that I did all the lesson plans up through 2.26 last weekend.
The Paper Grading Fairies haven't visited yet, but they will. Hopefully soon.

Today I discovered that my work e-mail features an icon of a bulimic trash can to accompany the "purge" option. It has made me laugh all day.

There's snow on the ground again, but the sidewalks were mostly clear and after a week off and Chicago extravagance, it felt good to head out. The dog required some encouragement, but we made it.

Speaking of: I picked up Truman dog this morning after a weird evening without, and I caught myself asking him on the drive home how his stay was.

Currently love: this song, this song, this song, this.

There's new prints on the wall and today the sun hit them just right. The ladies in dirty bathrobes never looked better.

On Saturday I introduced myself to one of my all-time favorite poets, the one that my CW students are sort of in love with. He asked me if I was an undergrad.
