The last of my pre-semester planning gets wrapped up today.
On Thursday night we grilled pizza, wrestled with a tent, and drank brown bottles of beer until the early hours.
I spent Friday napping on the sun porch/office couch and reading Savage Love archives.
Polish Heritage Fest downtown last night. Liz and I conducted a taste test of the three food stalls. The one with the shortest line actually had the best pierogies--some stuffed with sweet cheese, others filled with potato, all doused in butter. We ate from the same little Styrofoam bowl and sat on a grassy knoll and watched people polka. Then we wandered around the free-for-the-night art museum.
Corn at the farm stand is so sweet you can eat it raw.
I have back-to-school hair. A warm stack of just-printed syllabi. A book release party lined up for October.
A grocery list of makings for the first week back: soup for lunches, strata for quick breakfasts, string cheese for dashes between classes, chocolate-chip-sea-salt cookies for freezing, blueberry-jalapeno jam just because.
I'm ready.
...
I think.
