I got a letter in the mail yesterday, a good-news-of-sorts letter. It came from a Press I Would Very Much Like to Work With, and it read, in part:
While we have selected two manuscripts for publication in 2013, yours was not one of those--though it finished in our final eight. I believe your collection is publishable as it stands, and I hope you will not revise it because it has not been selected by us at this time. We wish you luck in placing your excellent collection soon.
It was a good letter to receive. The letter is taped above the desk, and today the collection goes out to two more places.
Do not hurry; do not rest, said Goethe, and I will not.
