Sometimes I spend a lot of time generating discussion questions based on the reading I've assigned, crafting careful queries that are designed to not only spark discussion but also get students to think about the concepts we are discussing and how they might relate to other things we talk about, or their other classes, or the essay that is due in two weeks, and then I get to class, and it turns out my entire lesson can be summarized in two sentences:
1. Some of you liked the readings, even if you did not fully understand them.
2. Some of you hated the readings, even though you did not read them.
*
Still, it beats the old job.
