I feel better today - made some posters for BER, got to hold conferences in an empty office with the windows open, coffee brewing, and music playing, sent off some query letters, ate a bunch of homemade sweet corn pico.
If I ever get a band, we're going to be Pico and the Parliments.
Also worth noting: it is impossible to stay in a funk if you are listening to the Fratelli's "Flathead" (but I just learned from the website that it's the latest iPod commerical song, so hurry up and get in your therapeutic listens before you hear it too many times and it makes you want to run screaming from the room).
that's okay. Gluteratti is better anyway. and at the end, they say in a great accent, "i hate your fuhhkin lyrics!" and I always love when scottish people swear.
ReplyDeleteYum...sweet corn pico.

The reading actually went really well. I wasn’t even nervous. I managed not to move inappropriately, which was quite an achievement for me. Everyone thought I must have rehearsed the material over and over in order to have read it so (relatively) well. I told them I practiced all day.
I didn’t. I was drunk!
OK, I wasn’t (that) drunk, just somewhat prepared (a bit buzzed). And actually, if I was in the audience watching me read from the podium, I would have been like, "damn that chick is irritating." And then I would have retreated to the back of the room and continued stuffing my purse with the catered brownies and baklava.
